Two F/A-18D - VMFA(AW)-121 "Green Knights" - Side #00 & 07 - Van Nuys AP, CA - 7/30/2004 - Based at MCAS Miramar, #00 and 07 are spotted making a stop at Van Nuys. Note the ATARS mod under the nose of #07.

 

F-16B - USAF 162nd FW 148th FS AZ ANG - Serial #80-0636 - Lemoore NAS, CA - 3/20/2004 - This aircraft was retired to AMARC on 6/24/2005.

 

F/A-18C - USN VFA-147 "Argonauts" - Side #400 BuNo 164039 - Lemoore NAS, CA - 3/20/2004 - Seen on this day as the lead Hornet for VFA-147, this ship eventually ended up in VMFAT-101.

 

  

F/A-18C - USN VFA-125 "Rough Riders" - Side #300 BuNo 163496 - Lemoore NAS, CA - 3/20/2004 - VFA-125 is the west coast classic Hornet training squadron based at NAS Lemoore.

 

  

F/A-18B - USN VFA-125 "Rough Riders" - Side #326 BuNo 162864 - Lemoore NAS, CA - 3/20/2004 - One of VFA-125's two seat Hornets. The side number was eventually changed to 402 on this aircraft.

 

F/A-18F - USN VFA-122 "Flying Eagles" Side #100 BuNo 165676 - Lemoore NAS, CA - 3/20/2004 - VFA-122 is the west coast Super Hornet training squadron based at NAS Lemoore. This was their lead F Hornet at the time.

 

F/A-18E - USN VFA-122 "Flying Eagles" Side #401 BuNo 166438 - Lemoore NAS, CA - 3/20/2004 - This Super Hornet was brand new at the time. Many of the new Hornets are first assigned to the east or west coast training units for evaluation.

 

E-2C - USN VAW-116 "Sun Kings" Side #603 BuNo 165650 - Lemoore NAS, CA - 3/20/2004 - VAW-116 is based at NAS Point Mugu, CA.

 

   

B-52H -USAF 2nd BW 96th BS "Red Devils" - Serial #60-0019 - March ARB, CA - 4/24/2004 - The 96th BS is based at Barksdale AFB, LA. This B-52 wears the nose art "Raz'n Hell II".

 

C-141C -USAF 452nd AMW 729th AS - Serial #66-0193 - March ARB, CA - 4/24/2004 - The 729th AS is based at March ARB, CA. The C-141 has since been retired. The unit now flies the C-17A.

 

C-5A - USAF 439th AW 337th AS - Serial #68-0219 - March ARB, CA - 4/24/2004 - The 337th AS is based at Westover ARB, MA

 

TA-4J - March Field Air Museum - Side #04 BuNo 154342 - March ARB, CA - 4/24/2004 - This Skyhawk was last with VC-8, an adversary unit based at NAS Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. It was one of the last flying USN A-4s.

 

A-7D - March Field Air Museum - Serial #69-6188 - March ARB, CA - 4/24/2004 - This Corsair II is on loan from the US Air Force Museum in Ohio. It was first delivered to the USAF on 6/1/1970.

 

T-1A - USAF 12th FTW 99th FTS - Serial #91-0101 - March ARB, CA - 4/24/2004 - The 99th Flight Training Squadron is based at Randolph AFB, TX. The 340th FTW 100th FTS also borrows the T-1 aircraft at Randolph.

 

S-3B - USN VS-33 "Screwbirds" - Side #714 BuNo 160128 - Miramar MCAS, CA - 10/15/2004 - Last with VS-33 at NAS North Island, this Viking was retired to AMARC on 8/25/2005. It's last deployment was aboard the USS Carl Vinson.

 

F/A-18C - VMFA-314 "Black Knights" - Side #207 BuNo 165192 - Miramar MCAS, CA - 10/15/2004 - The Black Knights are one of numerous Marine Hornet units based at Miramar MCAS, CA.

 

F/A-18D - VMFA(AW)-121 "Green Knights" - Side #02 BuNo 164272 - Miramar MCAS, CA - 10/15/2004 - Flying with the Green Knights at the time of this photo, this Hornet was eventually moved to VMFAT-101.

 

F/A-18D - VMFA(AW)-225 "Vikings" - Side #01 BuNo 165532 - Miramar MCAS, CA - 10/15/2004 - This Hornet was the lead ship of the Vikings at the time of this photo, and based at Miramar MCAS, CA.

 

F/A-18C - VMFA-232 "Red Devils" - Side #301 BuNo 164975 - Miramar MCAS, CA - 10/15/2004 - This Hornet was the lead ship of the Red Devils at the time of this photo, and based at Miramar MCAS, CA.

 

F/A-18C - VMFA-323 "Death Rattlers" Side #215 BuNo 164875 - Miramar MCAS, CA - 10/15/2004 - Based at Miramar MCAS, CA, this Hornet was still with VMFA-323 as of 2008.

 

F/A-18D - VMFA(AW)-121 "Green Knights" - Side #01 BuNo 164685 - Miramar MCAS, CA - 10/15/2004 - This Hornet was the lead ship of the Green Knights at the time of this photo. Note the F/A-18 machine gun displayed next to the aircraft.

 

C-141C - USAF 445th AW - Serial #66-0177 - Miramar MCAS, CA - 10/15/2004 - The "Hanoi Taxi" was the first aircraft to land in Hanoi to bring POWs home on 2/12/1973. It was also the last USAF C-141 to fly on 5/5/2006.

 

F-16CJ - USAF 169th FW 157th FS SC ANG - Serial #92-0902 - Point Mugu NAS, CA - 9/18/2004 - One of the F-16s belonging to the South Carolina Air National Guard "Swamp Foxes". 

 

CF-188B (F/A-18B) - 410SQ - Side #934 BuNo 188934 - Point Mugu NAS, CA - 9/18/2004 - One of the Hornets belonging to the Canadian Air Force. Note the fake canopy painted on the bottom of the fuselage to help confuse the enemy.

 

EA-6B - USN VAQ-129 "New Vikings" Side #517 BuNo 163048 - Point Mugu NAS, CA - 9/18/2004 - This Prowler was with the EA-6B training unit based at Whidbey NAS, WA, during the time of this photo.

 

P-3C - USN VP-65 "Tridents" Side #014 BuNo 161014 - Point Mugu NAS, CA - 9/18/2004 - This Orion reserve squadron was based at Point Mugu NAS. They were decommissioned in late 2005.

 

Tornado IDS(T) - German AF GAFFTC - Serial #44+38 - Vandenberg AFB, CA - 10/30/2004 - One of the Tornado aircraft flown by the German Air Force Flight Training Center (GAFFTC) in the U.S. at Holloman AFB, NM.

 

E-3B - 3rd Wing 962nd AACS - Serial #73-1675 - Vandenberg AFB, CA - 10/30/2004 - This AWACS aircraft is based at Elmendorf AFB, AK. Note the "Let's Roll" nose art and green tail splash of the 962nd AACS "Eyes of the Eagle"
