Long Beach Pilot Boats "Venus" & "Polaris" - Long Beach, CA - 2/8/2004 - Two of the boats from Jacobsen Pilot Services are seen docked at the Long Beach Pilots pier in Long Beach Harbor.

 

Carnival Cruises "Carnival Pride" - Long Beach, CA - 2/8/2004 - The Carnival pride is docked at the Long Beach passenger terminal. The dome building use to house the Howard Hughes designed Spruce Goose.

 

Russian 'Foxtrot' Class Submarine "Scorpion" - Long Beach, CA - 2/8/2004 - Shown in front of the Queen Mary, this sub was designated as "Project 641" by the Soviet Union. Many of it's missions are still classified.

 

Crowley Tugboat "Sea Cloud" - San Pedro, CA - 2/8/2004 - Seen docked at the Crowley pier, Sea Cloud has a 4962 HP twin propulsion system. Sister boat is the Sea Robin.

 

Sea Launch Platform Rig & "Sea Launch Commander" - Long Beach, CA - 2/8/2004 - Sea Launch is a mobile rocket launching system consisting of a launch platform rig and a command ship. The rockets are launched at the equator.

 

Wilhelmsen Lines "Talabot" - Long Beach, CA - 4/9/2000 - Built in 1979, the Talabot is one of numerous Roll-On/Roll-Off cargo ships operated by Wilhelmsen Lines.

 

Crowley Off-Shore Vessel "American Salvor" - Long Beach, CA - 10/21/2000 - The American Salvor is an anchor handling ship. Pictured at the old Crowley base in Long Beach Harbor.

 

Skibs-A/S Hassel "Jo Oak" & Crowley Tugboat "Master" - Long Beach, CA - 12/29/2000 - Flagged as a Norway, Bergen based ship, this tanker is being assisted out of the Port of Long Beach by Crowley tractor tug "Master".

 

Millennium Maritime Tugboat "Millennium Falcon" - Long Beach, CA - 7/15/2000 - The Millennium Falcon heads South through the Los Angeles Main Channel. This tug has 4400 HP and a Z-Drive propulsion system.

 

Foss Maritime Co. Tugboat "Point Fermin" - Long Beach, CA - 7/15/2000 - Built by Martinac in 1976, the Point Fermin is 97' long and has 3000 HP. Sister ship is the Point Vicente.

 

Foss Maritime Co. Tugboat "Phillips Foss" - Long Beach, CA - 7/15/2000 - Built by McDermott in 1969, this 112' tug has a 4300 HP plant.

 

Foss Maritime Co. Tugboat "Point Vicente" - Long Beach, CA - 7/15/2000 - Built by Martinac in 1976, the Point Fermin is 97' long and has 3000 HP. Sister ship is the Point Fermin.

 

Foss Maritime Co. Tugboat "Pacific Escort" - Long Beach, CA - 8/26/2000 - Built by the Tacoma Boat Building Co. in 1983, this 100' tug has a 3500 HP Voith plant.

 

Millennium Maritime Tugboat "Escort Eagle" - San Pedro, CA - 8/26/2000 - Built by Nichols Bros. in 1995, the Escort Eagle is 109' long, with a 3200 HP plant.

 

Crowley Tugboat "Admiral" - San Pedro, CA - 8/26/2000 - The Admiral was built in 1998 by Nichols Bros. This Tractor Tug is 96' long and has a 4800 HP Voith propulsion system.

 

Crowley Tugs "Admiral" & "Master" - San Pedro, CA - 8/26/2000 - Pictured with sister boat Admiral, the Master was built in 1998 by Nichols Bros. This Tractor Tug is 96' long and has a 4800 HP Voith propulsion system.

 

Crowley Tugboat "Sea Robin" - San Pedro, CA - 8/26/2000 - The Sea Robin was built by McDermott in 1973 and has a 5300 HP Twin propulsion system. 

 

Cosco Container Ship & Crowley Tugs - Long Beach, CA - 8/26/2000 - One of numerous operated by Cosco, this container ship is seen moving through the Long Beach Harbor under the assistance of Crowley tugs.

 

USNS "Cape Isabel" & USNS "Cape Inscription" - Long Beach, CA - 4/16/2000 - These two Roll-On/Roll-Off ships are part of the USNS Ready Reserve Force. They are stored in running condition at the old Long Beach Navy Pier.

 

Crowley Tugboat "Tioga" - Long Beach, CA - 12/26/1999 - Built by Tri-Star Marine in 1994, this 4000 HP tug is 78' long. It's pictured here while docked at the old Crowley pier.

 

Maersk Lines "Sine Maersk" - Long Beach, CA - 12/26/1999 - This container ship was built in 1998 and has a 6600 TEU. It's pictured here while docked at the old Maersk piers in Long Beach Harbor.

 

Bulk Materials Ship "Aramis" & Foss Tugs - Long Beach, CA - 4/30/2000 - The Aramis is seen here being assisted out of the Port of Long Beach by Foss tugs. 

 

Crowley Tugboat "Leader" - Long Beach, CA - 4/30/2000 - The Leader was built in 1998 by Nichols Bros. This Tractor Tug is 96' long and has a 4800 HP Voith propulsion system.

 

Crowley Tugboat "Adventurer" - Long Beach, CA - 4/30/2000 - Built by McDermott in 1976, the 127' Adventurer has a 7000 HP plant.

 

Crowley Tugboat "Scout" - Long Beach, CA - 4/30/2000 - Built by Nichols Bros. in 1999, the Scout is 96' long and has a 4800 HP Voith propulsion system.

 

Crowley Tugboat "Sea Reliance" - San Pedro, CA - 10/14/2007 - A rare type to see in LA/LB, the Sea Reliance was the second of two 9280 HP tugs built by Marinette Marine Corp. Her sister boat is Ocean Reliance.

 

Stena Bulk "Stena Compass" - Wilmington, CA - 3/16/2006 - Built in 2006, this brand new ship is one of Stena Bulk's 'Panamax Class' tankers. It has a DWT of 72,600. Seen here while docked in L.A. Harbor.

 

Crowley Tugs "Scout" & "Admiral" - San Pedro, CA - 3/4/2007 - Pictured in their new red and white scheme, sister boats Scout and Admiral were built by Nichols Bros. and have 4800 HP Voith propulsion. 

 

Millennium Maritime Tugboat "Millennium Maverick" - San Pedro, CA - 3/4/2007 - Built in 1996, this 96' tug is powered by a 4300 HP EMD plant. It's pictured here while moving South down the Los Angeles Main Channel.

 

Old Los Angeles City Fire Boat #2 - San Pedro, CA - 3/4/2007 - Considered state of the art at the time of being built in 1925, what would eventually become Fire Boat #2 was originally named the "Ralph J. Scott".

 

Jumbo Ship's "Jumbo Challenger" - San Pedro, CA - 3/4/2007 - This 'D1000 Class' ship is seen docked at Southwest Marine. A month earlier the rear derrick snapped and a 600 ton load partially hit the dock here.

 

Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co. "Zhenhua 4" - Terminal Island, CA - 5/8/2004 - ZPMC manufactures a variety of large cranes. They can transport their cranes through on own fleet of specialized large load ships. 

 

Tanker "Mikom Brave" - Wilmington, CA - 6/7/2007 - This Singapore flagged tanker was built in 2000.

 

Port of Long Beach Fire Boat "Challenger" (#15) - Long Beach Harbor, CA - 9/1/2001 - Long Beach Fire Boat #15 heads out onto the flats next to Pier 'F'.

 

Millennium Tug's "Millennium Maverick" - San Pedro, CA - 9/1/2001 - "Millennium Maverick" sits docked next to Millennium's "Escort Eagle".

 

Carnival Cruises "Carnival Splendor" - Long Beach, CA - 9/19/2010 - Seen docked at the cruise ship terminal on the east side of Long Beach Harbor.

 

Old Southwest Marine Cranes - Los Angeles Harbor, CA  - 9/19/2010 - These old pier cranes aren't used much anymore, if at all... But they may go back to WWII times.
